Overview

Enjoy an atypical tour experience that mainly focuses on leisurely nature rides through the scenic countryside of Balik Pulau. Cycle through a labyrinth of minor roads, pathways and alleys and pass by paddy fields, vegetable plantations, mangroves and fishing villages. Discover the Balik Pulau hideaways and get to know about Penang’s history, heritage and culture.  Savour local coffee and snacks as you take in the local scenes.

Itinerary

This guided cycling tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Georgetown or BatuFeringghi. Enjoy the drive till Balik Pulau, a small scenic southwestern town of Penang Island. Embark on a leisurely ride on your cycle through the paddy fields, fishing villages, vegetables farms, and mangrove forest. Explore the nook and corners of the countryside that are otherwise left unexplored by the tourists.

Listen to your expert guide while passing by the paddy fields as he tells you about the rice cultivation process in the island and how it evolved over time. You also get to learn about the history, heritage and culture of Penang. Enjoy the natural surrounds as you ride through the river banks and visit a fishing village. Observe the fishermen preparing their fishing nets or bringing back their catch of the day as they tie up their boats on the shore.

Visit the Malay village of Kampung Terang and admire the traditional Malay houses that are built on stilts. Built by the tribal natives, these precious houses are present-day residences of their extended families. Finally, enjoy a relaxed stopover at a coffee place and savour local coffee and snacks while witnessing the everyday culture of the area.

This tour ends with transfers back to your city hotel.
