Ancient ruins accentuated by glorious landscapes are offered on this fabulous tour to two of Jordan’s archaeological jewels, Umm Qais and Pella ruins, which were mentioned in the Biblical texts.
Explore 6000 years of history excavated at the ancient city of Pella and in the Jordan Valley in the south at Umm Qais, one of the most magnificent ancient Greco-Roman cities of the Decapolis.
Entrance fees to all sites are included and you have the choice to explore the sites independently or enlist the services and knowledge of a local guide.
You will be picked up from your hotel in a private air-conditioned car/mini van and taken on a sightseeing tour of Um Qais and Pella.
Leaving Amman, head for the ruins of the ancient town of Um Qais, also known as Gadara. This is one of the most brilliant ancient Greco-Roman cities of the Decapolis. A photographer’s paradise, the ruins are located at an altitude of 1,700 feet. They command a magnificent view of the Sea of Galilee (Lake Tiberias) in Israel, the Golan Heights in Syria, the Palestinian Territories in the north and the Yarmuk Valley in Jordan in the south. You will visit three black basalt theatres, a temple and a colonnaded street here.
Continue towards the ruins of the ancient city of Pella, also known as Taqabat Fahl, which is nestled in the Jordan Valley. Learn about 6000 years of history, beginning from the Stone Age to medieval Islamic times. Admire the scenic surrounds of the Jordan Valley while exploring this expansive historical site.
After Pella, you will proceed to Dead Sea where you can spend some free time.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Amman.
