You will be picked up from your hotel and taken for a sightseeing tour of the city. You will be accompanied by a local English-speaking guide and will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle. Among the attractions you will see are:
• The Victoria Memorial: An impressive building that dates back to the days when the British ruled India, the Victoria Memorial is a memorial of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. It currently serves as a museum which houses Victoria memorabilia, British Raj paintings and other displays and is a major tourist attraction. Built of white marble, the building is an aesthetic mix of the best of British and Mughal architecture.
• St. Paul’s Cathedral: Constructed between 1839 and 1847, the Cathedral is the principal place of worship for the Christians of Kolkata. Don’t miss the stained glass work inside the cathedral.
• A local market: Experience the buzz and excitement of a typical Kolkata market and shop for souvenirs like traditional cotton sarees among others.
• The Indian Museum: This is Kolkata’s main museum and has an impressive collection of displays especially in natural history and modern art. Don’t miss the gallery of religious sculptures and the gallery on plants and horticulture.
After this sightseeing tour, you will be dropped back to your hotel where the tour ends.
