This tour comes in two options: A whale watching and Blue Lagoon direct tour and a whale watching, Blue Lagoon tour with a drop-off at Keflavik Airport.
Your tour begins with a pick-up by bus from your Reykjavik hotel or guesthouse where you’ll meet your English-speaking guide.
Whale Watching and Blue Lagoon Direct:
Your bus will take you to Reykjavik harbor. Board a boat bound for Faxaflói Bay, where all nature of magnificent marine life inhabit the emerald waters. The area is home to a unique variety of the Minke Whale, the Humpback, the Harbor Porpoise, and the White-Beaked Dolphin.
Scan the horizon for massive and incomparable whales, which epitomize poetry in motion when they arch themselves up from the water to breach. Hopefully you’ll see dolphins and porpoises dallying playfully by the side of the boat.
Keep one eye trained on the wide waters, and another on the sky, as the Puffin, Arctic Tern, Gannet, and many varieties of Gull dance among the clouds. Your whale-watching trip will last between 1-1½ hours.
Return to Reykjavik Harbor and explore the Whale Exhibition Centre, where you’ll learn about the biology of whales and other mysteries of the depths. The exhibition room is situated in an old capelin-fishing vessel, Fifill, which rests in the harbor.
Enjoy a lunch break in downtown Reykjavik (payable direct) before you continue by bus to the Blue Lagoon.
Arrive at this magical geothermal spa, which is situated in the youngest lava field in West Iceland. Bathe in soothing blue-green waters as steam rises in spectral wisps from the surface. Take a walk through the enchanting lava fields that surrounds the lagoon, or release the stress from your shoulders under a healing waterfall.
Your time at the Blue Lagoon is at leisure. We do not include the bathing fee in the tour price as many people choose to simply wander and take in the beauty of the area or have a meal at the restaurant. If you wish to bathe you may pay the fee locally
You will be dropped back at your hotel in Reykjavik at tour’s end.
Whale Watching, Blue Lagoon tour with a drop-off at Keflavik Airport:
This tour is the perfect send-off for those about to depart from Reykjavik. It begins in the same manner as the tour above with a 1-1½ hour whale watch, but there is no stop at the Whale Exhibition Room and no lunch break in Reykjavik.
Instead, you will drive straight to the Blue Lagoon, where you can wind down your vacation in steaming geothermal waters or treat yourself to a massage and other spa treatments (payable direct).
With bags in hand, you will be dropped off at the Keflavik International Airport, feeling relaxed and ready to travel.
