Take a memorable drive across the lava-scarred terrain of the Reykjanes Peninsula, where geological furies have given shape to landscapes of rare and haunting beauty.
See a beautiful lighthouse that stands like a sentinel on the tip of the peninsula and try to catch a glimpse of the majestic Northern Gannet alighting in the skies.
Take a trip to a relaxing geothermal spa, where you can sink into the reviving waters and enjoy a moment of cathartic calm.
Note: The Blue Lagoon will be closed for construction from 5 to 21 Jan 2016. Restaurants & shops will also be closed during this period.
You will be picked up by bus from your hotel in Reykjavik for this Reykjanes Peninsula and Blue Lagoon Tour. You’ll be accompanied by an English-speaking guide that will help tease out the mysteries of the stirring Icelandic landscape.
Drive out of the capital to the Reykjanes Peninsula, where the mid-Atlantic ridge rises from the ocean. More than half of the peninsula is covered with lava flows, some of which are only a few hundred years old. You will see lava cones and craters of all shapes and sizes, which bespeak the mercurial volcanic activity of the area.
Head for the lighthouse on the westernmost tip of the peninsula, an area rich with bird life in the summer.
Continue through the lava fields to the quaint fishing village of Grindavík, which will give you a sense of small-town life in Iceland.
Close out your tour with a trip to the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa where you can bathe in soothing blue-green waters as steam rises in spectral wisps from the surface.
Your time at the Blue Lagoon is at leisure. We do not include the bathing fee in the tour price as many people choose to simply wander and take in the beauty of the area or have a meal at the restaurant. If you wish to bathe you may pay the fee locally.
If you are short on time and are not able to fit the Blue Lagoon into your schedule, a transfer is provided to Keflavik International Airport or back to Reykjavik.
All others will be returned to their Reykjavik hotel after a relaxing time at the lagoon.
