You will be picked up by bus from your Reykjavik hotel/guesthouse and taken to the diving site of Silfra in Þingvellir National Park. The exact location will vary according to your experience level.
This tour is essential for every diver visiting Iceland. If you are a certified diver, with or without dry suit experience, this is the adventure for you! Silfra, which is actually a crack in the face of the earth between the Eurasian and American plates, is one of the world’s top ten diving sites.
The water in Silfra has traveled for years from Iceland’s glaciers and pushed its way up from a porous lava field, maintaining a constant temperature of 1-3°C all year around. A mild current at your back helps you swim effortlessly out of the crack.
You will be accompanied by a PADI Dive master or PADI Instructor, who is there to answer all your questions and assist you with your dive. With different routes to suit all experience and comfort levels, Silfra is truly the perfect diving location.
Silfra offers open water diving, caving and deep diving. The open water diving reaches a depth of about 40 meters, while the depth inside of a cave is around 60 meters. Though it’s more beautiful to dive on a sunny day in Silfra, you can enjoy a spectacular diving experience in any weather.
Warm drinks and snacks will be provided, and a high-resolution CD of your dive will be presented afterwards for you to remember your experience by.
After some 5 hours in the water you will be returned to your hotel in Reykjavik.
