You will be picked up by bus from your Reykjavik hotel for this Reykjavik Sightseeing and Blue Lagoon Tour. You will be accompanied by an English or German speaking guide(as chosen) on the City Sightseeing tour that knows the area well.
Drive just a few kilometers outside the capital to the Presidential Residence at Bessastadir. The main building dates from the 18th century and was built on the site of a former farmhouse that Icelandic kings and foreign rulers used as a political headquarters down through the centuries. The white buildings that compose the residence are reflected in a placid lake and their striking red roofs stand in sharp relief against undulating brown mountains.
Continue onward to Hafnarfjörður, a charming port town that is home to an annual Viking festival and is arguably the rock and roll capital of Iceland. Hafnarfjörður is steeped in Elvin lore, and it is believed these “hidden people” live in and around the large boulders on the town’s outskirts.
Drive back into Reykjavik to check out the revolving restaurant on the top floor of the Perlan building, an architectural masterwork crowned by a glass dome that holds the city’s hot water supply—as well as the attention of all who gaze on it.
Surrounded by windows, you’ll be able to enjoy incredible panoramas of Reykjavik and the surrounding area.
View the Hallgrímskirkja Church, a looming white structure with a 73-meter steeple that is guarded by a lone statue of Icelandic explorer Leifur Eriksson.
Enjoy free time (1 to 1,5 hours) for a stroll in the bustling city centre, where you can lunch on local fare (payable direct) before departing for the next stage of your tour.
After your break, set off at 13:00 (arrival at the Blue Lagoon at around 13:50) across the harshly beautiful Icelandic terrain to the Blue Lagoon, where you spend your afternoon awash in serenity.
The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa situated in the youngest lava field in west Iceland. Once there you are treated to a few hours of perfect peace - walk through the enchanted lava fields that surround the lagoon, bathe in the steamy blue-green waters, relax in a geothermal steam bath or release the stress from your shoulders under a soothing waterfall.
Your time at the Blue Lagoon is at leisure. We do not include the bathing fee in the tour price as many people choose to simply wander and take in the beauty of the area or have a meal at the restaurant. If you wish to bathe you may pay the fee locally.
You will be returned to your Reykjavik hotel at tour’s end.
Departure times from the Blue Lagoon are at 15:00, 17:15 and 19:00 with a driving time of about 50 minutes. Those wishing to go to Keflavik Airport can take our transfer busses from the Blue Lagoon at 14:00 and 15:00. Transfer time from the Blue Lagoon to Keflavik Airport is around 20 minutes.
