Visit old mills along the River Ljuta, once used to grind corn and produce flour, or to process wool. Watch a fascinating live demonstration as you enjoy a welcome drink and snack. You can also sample some of the region’s delicious olive oil.

Move on to the ancient Roman town of Cavtat. Perched on a wooded peninsula between two bays, this is one of the loveliest small settlements on the Adriatic coast. Join your guide for a short sightseeing tour before enjoying time on your own to explore at leisure.

Before returning to Dubrovnik, end this delightful day with a stop at a viewpoint offering spectacular views of the surrounding hills, coast and tiny green islands, set like emeralds in a glittering sea.

Itinerary

Your delightful Konavle Valley Afternoon Tour From Dubrovnik begins when you are picked up at one of several convenient locations in town. On this half day tour, you’ll explore the Konavle valley, a fascinating region in the hinterland of Dubrovnik. The Konavle valley is an ethnographic and natural jewel of Croatia, known for its traditional way of living, pure olive oil, green honey, sweet-smelling herbs and embroidery.

You’ll see Cavtat, originally the site of the Roman town of Epidaurum, founded in the 4th century BC and now one of the prettiest towns on this stretch of coast.

Cavtat is full of artistic and cultural treasures. Famous structures include the elegant waterfront Church of St Nicholas with paintings by the celebrated Croatian painter Vlaho Bukovac; the 16th-century Rector's Palace with its collection of paintings, books and furniture and the Racic Mausoleum, an octagonal white dome with huge bronze doors decorated with gargoyles of dogs, eagles and winged lambs.

Join your guide for a short orientational sightseeing and later enjoy time on your own discovering this charming town with its red-roofed houses, flower-filled gardens and colorful markets.

On the return journey to Dubrovnik, you’ll stop at a mountain viewpoint which offers spectacular views of the whole area including the surrounding islands.

Upon completion of the tour, you will be dropped at the pick-up point in Dubrovnik. From there, you will be free to make your way back to your accommodation.
