The Beijing Peking Opera is the quintessence of China. The Peking Opera is one of the most traditional theatrical performances in China. It is a colourful comprehensive performing art that combines music, singing, dialogue, pantomime, acrobatics and martial arts dating back to over 200 years to the Qing Dynasty. The different stories are often based around good and evil, beauty and beasts from old Chinese legends.

This largest Chinese opera form has created many 'firsts' in Chinese dramas: the abundance of repertoires, the number of artists, opera troupes and spectators.
