Spend three sun-soaked days in the heart of Australia’s Red Centre exploring the iconic Ayers Rock (Uluru), Kata Tjuta (Olgas) and the rock formations of Kings Canyon. Watch the sun set over the undulating folds of Ayers Rock and then wake to a stunning sunrise over Uluru. Head out to Kings Canyon and marvel at this huge formation of weathered rocks and marvellous waterholes. Explore the impressive rock formations of the ‘Amphitheatre’, ‘The Lost City’, the picturesque ‘Garden of Eden’ and the breathtaking North and South Walls.

Itinerary

Day 1 You will be picked up and taken for this tour in an air conditioned mini coach.

You will visit:

Outback Camel Farm: Stop at this farm and learn a little about these animals which have played an important role in the development of central Australia.

Kata Tjuta: Listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, these rock formations are also an important part of the cultural landscape of the region. The features of both Uluru and Kata Tjuta are physical evidence of the actions, artefacts and bodies of the ancestral heroes (the tjukuritja) who travelled the earth in creation times. The travels of these ancestral heroes are celebrated in Anangu religion and culture today.

Admire the sunset at Uluru and then stay the night at the Ayers Rock Resort Permanent Campsite. Day 2 Admire the sunrise, have breakfast and then proceed for a sightseeing tour of Uluru and the surroundings.

Uluru: Also known as Ayers Rock, this is a large sandstone rock formation in this region. It has many springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. Uluru is listed as a World Heritage Site for its natural and man-made attributes.

Base Walk of Uluru: This 9.4km walk that circles the base of Uluru is the best way to experience the monolith at ground level. The walk is divided into sections, or visitors can choose to walk the entire circumference.

Kings Creek Cattle Station: King's Creek Station is a working cattle station but has cabins and camping facilities. This is an ideal place to stop for refreshments (payable direct) after the base walk of Uluru.

Stay the night at Kings Creek Permanent Campsite. Day 3 After breakfast, proceed to Kings Canyon. Situated within the Watarrka National Park, it is a huge canyon 270m high. The walk around the rim of the canyon is definitely worth it as the views are spectacular. Pass the tropical pools of the Garden of Eden, and the beehive rock formations called the Lost City. The views from the canyon are also spectacular, overlooking the beautiful landscape.

Travel back to Alice Springs, where you will be dropped back to your hotel.
