See mighty humpback whales on migration and encounter other exciting sea creatures on this thrilling afternoon excursion.
Your cruise vessel is the Mahi Mahi – the most advanced whale-watching craft on the Gold Coast and the only one with a water-level viewing deck for the closest whale encounters possible.
Out in the ocean, take your position along the boat's rail and scan the horizon for whales, bottlenose dolphins, killer whales, giant loggerhead turtles plus many different types of birds. An expert naturalist aboard the boat will be able to identify the different species and tell you all about the marine life of the Gold Coast.
There is a very good chance you will witness the breathtaking sight of huge humpback whales leaping out of the water and crashing down with a flick of their great tails. It is an experience you will never forget!
Your tour operator has a 100 per cent daily humpback whales sightings record! In the unlikely event you are unlucky you will be given a free return cruise.
To join your exciting Afternoon Whale Watching Tour from Gold Coast, you should make your way to Wharf behind Titanum Bar / Vibe Hotel – 42 Ferny Ave Surfers Paradise QLD.
Boarding begins at 1330h (1:30pm). Afternoon tea and biscuits are served as you come aboard. After a brief (and often entertaining) safety induction, you will set off on your ocean adventure.
The vessel Mahi Mahi, is modern, large and spacious and specifically designed for whale watching. Three large viewing decks offer unobstructed viewing of whales, dolphins and other marine life. The ship is the only Gold Coast whale watching vessel with a unique water level viewing platform providing guests with the closest humpback whale encounters possible.
The tour starts with a scenic canal cruise down the Nerang River. Gaze at the spectacular architecture as the crew point out the luxurious homes of the rich and famous. Your cruise continues past beautiful South Stradbroke Island to the nearby waters of the Australian Whale Sanctuary.
Every year between May and October, more than 12,000 humpback whales migrate to these warm sub-tropical waters to mate and give birth. They are thrilling animals to watch because they often leap right out of the water, a type of behavior known as ‘breaching’.
The calm winter waters off the Gold Coast are also home to bottlenose dolphins, giant loggerhead turtles, killer whales and various sea birds. An on-board marine scientist will provide a fascinating commentary on everything you see.
By about 1730h (5:30pm) you will be back at the Wharf, where the cruise ends.
