Relish a scrumptious 2-course lunch at Barossa Chateau followed by a tour of Hermann Thumm’s collection of porcelain at the chateaus private museum and a walk to the rose garden.
Also included in this tour is a visit to the pretty German-settled town of Hahndorf situated in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. This town still retains its proud German heritage which can be seen in its buildings.
You will be picked up from your hotel and travel in a luxury coach and pass by the grand and historic homesteads of North Adelaide before reaching the Barossa Valley.
At Barossa, visit Seppeltsfield estate, famous for its Centennial Collection of wines. Enjoy wine tasting and get the chance to see their famous ports brand dating back 100 years and more.
Next, head to Jacob’s Creek, one of the most popular Australian wine brands, exported to over 60 countries. Get an opportunity to sample their famous wines at a tutored wine tasting at the multi-award winning Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre. Smell different fragrances commonly found in wine then match them to specific wines in a blind taste (wine in black wine glasses).
Next, enjoy a sumptuous two-course lunch at Barossa Chateau. After lunch, you will tour the Hermann Thumm’s extensive porcelain collection in the Barossa Chateau’s private museum. Then you will stroll through Southern Hemisphere’s largest rose garden, opened by Queen Elizabeth II followed by wine tasting of Creed Wines at the cellar door of Barossa Chateau. If time permits, you may also get a chance to see and experience the Whispering Wall of the Barossa Reservoir.
Moving forward, drive past Adelaide Hills villages of Crafers, Stirling, Aldgate and Bridgewater to reach Hahndorf. You will have free time to explore the oldest German settlement in Australia, Hahndorf, and see quaint cottages and craft shops or enjoy some fine local hospitality in many streetside cafés.
