You will be picked up from your hotel in Boston and taken in an air-conditioned coach for a sightseeing tour to Newport.
On this tour you will see the most well-known landmarks of Newport and get a feel of its famous “gilded age”.
You will tour some of the most fabulous mansions that dot this city located on the southern end of Rhode Island.
Tour Mrs. Vanderbilt’s seventy-room summer home The Marble House, with 500,000 cubic feet of white marble built in 1892. One of the most opulent and prominent among the Gilded Age mansions of Newport, the Marble House is known for its extravagant gold ballroom.
Afterwards you’ll go on to Newport’s beautifully restored waterfront for shopping and lunch on your own. See the glamorous private yachts, modern racing sailboats, Newport’s fishing fleet and ships from around the world.
In the afternoon, you will visit a second famous mansion.
Enjoy the ten-mile Ocean Drive with spectacular views of mansions and secluded coves before returning to Boston. This is the marked scenic route along the dramatic Atlantic shoreline that circles Newport and has spectacular views of Newport’s famed mansions. It also affords some great, sunny views of the Atlantic Ocean and access to Fort Adams State Park -- a great place to fly a kite, have a picnic and enjoy the feeling of coastal New England.
At the end of the tour you will be dropped back at your hotel in Boston.
