Old Bushmills whiskey distillery is over 400 years old and produces top-quality whiskey, some of which include such award-winning whiskeys as Bushmills, Black Bush and Bushmills 21 year Malt. Bushmills is also the only distillery in Ireland that makes triple-distilled malt whiskey. This historical spot features on the top of the list for whiskey connoisseurs around the world.
Uncover the intriguing distilling process as you tour the rooms of the distillery. Your knowledgeable guide will be at hand to answer all questions you might have regarding whiskey and its production.
In a private tasting session, you will get to sample some of the finest whiskeys that the distillery has to offer, and learn to appreciate the different smells, tastes and colours of whiskey.
After your tour you will move on to the Bushmills Inn, where you will enjoy a lovely 2-course lunch. To round off a great day, you will also visit the spectacular Giant’s Causeway and see the fabled basalt columns springing up from the ground forming one of the most peculiar, unique sights in the whole of UK.
Meet your guide at the local tour operator’s office at the Belfast International Youth Hostel at 22-32 Donegall Road, Belfast, Antrim BT12 5JN at 8.45am. Additionally, you can make your way to the Europa Hotel on Great Victoria Street, on the corner of Glengall Street at 9am.
Tour the legendary distillery with an expert guide, learn about the hard work that goes into preparing whiskey and hear intriguing facts about the distilling process.
At the end of the tour, you will get to sample three Malt Whiskey’s, the 10 and 16 year Malts and the Distillery Reserve 12 year Malt – available only at Bushmills Distillery. As a permanent memento of your unique day out, you will be presented with a diploma. You will also have plenty of time to check out the offering at the gift shop, here you can even personalise your chosen bottle’s label if you wish; a wonderful gift or souvenir!
After the distillery tour, you will move on to the acclaimed Bushmills Inn for a lovely 2-course lunch followed by tea or coffee. This stunning building dates all the way back to the 1600s and once indoors, there are multiple cosy snugs and with a bit of luck, a flickering fire going in the fireplace.
After your leisurely lunch, you’ll move on to the spell-binding Giant’s Causeway, the subject of many legends and stories. Your tour price includes admission to the National Trust Visitor Centre, where you can relax for a while, or if you wish, walk off your Whiskey and lunch on the mystical basalt rock formations by the sea.
At the end of the tour, you will be returned to the starting point in Belfast city centre.
