The Golden Triangle region of Thailand has acquired almost mythical status because of its reputation of being the centre of the world’s opium growing and exporting region.

The area of the former triangle is full of small quiet villages nestling in beautiful natural scenery and ancient temples around. In fact, the area is totally different from the beach scene.

Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. The country has so many attractions that you may find it difficult to see them all in one visit.

Itinerary

This tour is available in private option. The private option offers you greater flexibility and you can spend as much or as little time at any of the places that you visit. Unlike the tight and fixed schedules of coach tours, the private option allows you to do the tour at your own pace.

This tour out of Chiang Mai will give you the opportunity to explore the famous ‘Golden Triangle’, quiet and picturesque little villages in the area.

Some of the activities and places that you will see are:

Chiang Rai town is over 700 years old and has some interesting temples.

First stop is Wiang Pa Pao, one of famous areas to find a Hot Spring. The tour also goes as far as Mae Sai the northern-most border with Mynmar.

On the return the tour stops at Akha and Yao villages. These lovely villages are populated by the local hill tribes.

You will visit ancient Chiang Saen, located on the steep banks of the Mekong River. Here you will find magnificent ancient ruins and temples.

The tour includes a stop for lunch. After the trip you will be returned to your hotel or airport (if you prefer).
