This tour will take you to some of the oldest known settlements of Northern Thailand and the Chiang Mai area. Chiang Mai is also the main handicrafts centre of the country.
There are numerous small cottage factories and workshops around the city where you can watch the craftsmen at work. Many of the shops sell hill-tribe and northern Thai craftwork with a percentage of the proceeds going to the hill tribe craftsmen.

This tour takes you around to remains of the oldest settlements in Thailand, famous temples. You will also get an opportunity to see and buy traditional Thai handicrafts.
The ruins of Wiang Kumkam used to be capital of the Lanna Kingdom in the 13th century. The town fell in to ruin thereafter but has been restored as a historical park.
Close to Wiang Kumkam is the little handicraft village of Muang Kung. The village is famous for its earthenware. You will see clay pots being made in the ancient traditional way.
Next on the itinerary is the village of Ban Tha Wai. It is a well known centre of traditional wood carving. The carvings feature diverse styles including Lanna, Chiang Saen, Burmese, Chinese and Tibetan. Their work can be found all around the world.
