Royal Albert Hotel, Surry Hills
All about having a good time, this tour of two awesome craft breweries as well as the first Aussie urban winery will charm your pants off!
Combining both a tasting session and a behind-the-scenes experience where you can learn all about the ingredients as well as the production techniques, it is a perfect treat for liquor lovers. The journey also includes a delicious pub lunch to seal the deal. With a chance to meet some great people, visit exceptional places and indulge in a whole lot of beer (and wine, too), we bet you couldn’t think of a better way to spend your afternoon.
Our brewery and winery line is as impressive as it gets. Brewed on repurposed ex-dairy equipment, Willie the Boatman, which began in 2012, is known for astonishingly flavourful beers. Rocks, led by fifth and sixth generation convict descendants, is one of the most advanced breweries in town and our tour will let you explore the brewhouse as well as sample their beers straight from the taps.
The highlight of our sojourn is definitely Australia’s first Urban Winery sitting in the heart of Sydney. A commercial winery processing at least 50 tonnes of grapes annually, their entire production - from crushing and fermenting, to barreling and bottling - takes place inside the city. Using the finest NSW Cold Climate grapes to create wines which are distinctly rustic, Urban Winery is also home to the ‘A.Retief’ label. Sit back and relish their lovely collection straight from the barrels while learning all the new trends and processes being used in wine making.
It’s a perfect introduction to both the craft as well as wine scene in Sydney and with a maximum of 10 people on the tour, it seems more like a bunch of friends catching up for a pub crawl than heading out on a guided tour.
About the Supplier: One of our favourite associates (we mean, come on, who doesn’t like beer?) in offering unique experiences is Dave’s Travel Group who offer exclusively-crafted brewery tours and other culinary trails. With a simple philosophy which is “all about showing you local as we love it all; food, drinks, history, and culture”, they are known for bringing people together to taste and experience the craftsmanship of local Aussie producers - whether it’s on a behind the scenes brewery tour or a walk back in time through our pub culture on a pub walk or even a coffee and dessert trail.
Voucher Information: No need to print! You can show your voucher on your smartphone or other devices. (But if you’d rather print a copy – that’s fine too!)
The confirmation voucher includes the local activity operator’s contact details. They’re a nice bunch, and will happily answer any logistical questions you may have. Please give them a call at least 24 hours before your organised activity to reconfirm.
This activity is for adults only. Those under the age of 18 years will have to sit this one out, we’re afraid.
The pub tours from Dave’s are true-blue behind-the-scenes experiences, which means that the itineraries might vary sometimes to accommodate brewery operations. These guys truly love their beer, so, sometimes they might even change the itineraries slightly to accommodate some beer-related activities going on in town that - and would be totally worth it!
You too can a chance to participate in the itinerary. If you do have a MUST-SEE beer spot, do let us know when making your booking (mention it in our Special Requests section) and we’ll do all we can to make it happen.
We need at least 4 people on the tour to be able to go ahead. Just in case we don’t have enough people on a particular date that you booked for, we will offer you an equally exciting alternative or a full refund.
We accommodate a maximum of 10 people on this tour so you can expect it to be an engaging and intimate affair!
