Discover one of Spain’s greatest splendors, often referred to as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’. The Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is set in a stunning location overlooking the city of Granada.
Nestling at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and arguably the finest example of Arab architecture in the whole of Spain, the palace and its gardens were built as a re-creation of ‘heaven on earth’, with cool courtyards, tinkling fountains and intricate carvings perfectly preserved.
Explore the opulent royal reception rooms and harem. Visit the Fortress of Alcazaba for breath-taking views over the city, and wander in the glorious gardens of Generalife with their stately trees, tranquil pools and perfumed plants.
The Alhambra is Spain’s most visited attraction and only limited entrance tickets are granted per day. Pre-book to avoid disappointment.
You will be picked up in a deluxe air-conditioned motorcoach from one of the designated pick-up spots (check options) and taken on a guided tour of the Alhambra Palace in Granada. You will be dropped-off in the town centre and given maps so that you can make your way to the Cathedral and shops. You have free time until 1315h (1:15pm) in the town centre for lunch (payable direct) and sightseeing.
At 1400h (2:00pm), take a 2 hour guided tour of the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens. The tour gives you the opportunity to take photographs of the delicate carvings and stunning decorations reflected in the water features found around every corner.
The local guide will bring the complex to life and transport you to the magical world of the Arabian Nights. Take in the scent of plants and the sounds of trickling water in the cool oasis of the gardens, which makes for great photos with the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a backdrop.
This tour is a treat for garden lovers; the designs are fantastic and the symmetrical Arabic features have been copied around the world.
You have the option to explore the city centre at leisure, where you may choose to visit the impressive Cathedral and Royal Chapel, browse the stalls in the spice market, or simply stroll around the main shopping centre.
Depart from Granada at around 1630h (4:30pm) with a stop en route for coffee.
The tour ends at the starting point between 1830 (6:30pm) – 2000h (8:00pm).
