During your Tenerife holiday make sure you visit the enchanting Pueblo Chico Theme Park located in a quiet road in La Orotava (Camino Cruz de los Martillos).
Here amid 20,000 square meters of landscaped grounds, you will find the highlights of Tenerife displayed in miniature. The island’s beauty spots and iconic attractions are reproduced in incredible detail, together with features from other Canary Islands. Starting with the Guanches – the original inhabitants of the Canaries – the theme park exhibits take you right up to the present day.
The Park is divided into eight sections: Paisaje Lunar (Moonscape Vilaflor), Guanche, Endemic Garden, Rural Zone, Modernity, Exotic Garden, Historical, and World Heritage.
All Canary Island life is here – at a scale of 1:25. Among other delights you will see representations of Canary wrestling, the salt pans and vineyards of Lanzarote, the great cliffs of Los Gigantes, and a scale model of South Tenerife Airport which occupies a space of 19 x 5 meters.
Look out for wonderful touches like the house leeks nestling among the tiles of roofs in Santa Cruz, paragliders launching themselves off the cliffs above southern beaches and the Fred Olsen Ferry dwarfing small boats alongside the Auditorio.
As well as the models there are also appropriate sound effects to bring the exhibits to life, such as bleating goats, the shouts of the children in a playground and church bells calling worshippers to prayer.
The creators of the Park obviously had a lot of fun because the exhibits are full of jokes. A great favorite is the pizza delivery boy who loses his pizzas while trying to impress some girls while making a wheelie. Notice the many examples of double parking, the lazy workmen and the boy spying on his neighbor while she sunbathes topless!
The Park is open from at 0900h (9:00am) to 1800h (6:00pm). You can stay there as long as you like during the day. There is a very good restaurant and snack bar with a sunny outside terrace and a gift shop (food and drink not included with your ticket).
At the end of your visit you need to make your own arrangements to return to your accommodation.
