The Costa Dorada is Spain's "Gold Coast" and runs along the east from Barcelona to Tarragona, covering 150 miles of sandy Mediterranean coastline. It boasts of the dual attraction of seemingly endless miles of golden sandy beaches and the Port Aventura theme park, a Disney-style entertainment centre which is the main magnet for many international holidaymakers.

This stretch of the coastline has long been popular with Spanish tourists, anxious to escape the stifling summer heat of Madrid and the traffic chaos and congestion of Barcelona. But it only developed as a major international tourist destination after the opening of Port Aventura in 1995.

Home to the popular holiday resorts of Salou, Cambrils, La Pinada, Coma Ruga and Sitges, the area certainly has something for everyone. The child-friendly, clear, shallow waters around the beaches of Salou and Cambrils make these resorts ideal locations for family holidays.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from in front of Hotel Salou Princess in the Plaza Europa area at 11:20am. Accompanied by your English-speaking guide, your coach will travel along the coastline to the Cambrils port.

Board a catamaran at Cambrils port. Enjoy sailing in the blue Mediterranean waters for approximately one hour along the picturesque Costa Dorada coastline. Lunch can be purchased on board.

While sailing in the catamaran, you could enjoy snorkeling, lilos and a host of other aquamarine activities when the catamaran makes a short stop, for about 30-45 minutes, along the journey. Alternatively you can lie back on the decks and take in the refreshing sea breeze and work on that suntan.

Sip on a cool drink of your choice (beer, sangria, soft drinks) on the return journey back to the Cambrils port.

Board the return coach from Cambrils port and you will be dropped off at Hotel Salou Princess, Plaza Europa.

This tour starts from in front of Hotel Salou Princess in the Plaza Europa area. Reus Airport to Plaza Europa is approximately 13km. Plaza Europa is a very large roundabout where all the main roads meet and it is the nerve centre of Salou. The roundabout is surrounded by hotels (Salou princess is adjacent to the roundabout) & apartment blocks. It is also only a few metres away from Avenida Andorra which is a busy shopping area with plenty of bars and restaurants.
