Enjoy an action-packed day on this exciting Menorca Cruise & Sightseeing Tour. At the start of the excursion you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Mahon.
You will board the Don Juan catamaran in Mahon Harbor, the second largest and deepest harbor in the world. It extends over 3 ½ miles inland and has been an important naval base since Roman times. Today, the harbor is often bustling with local fishing boats and billionaires’ yachts. During the 1-hour cruise you will enjoy an informative live commentary.
Following the cruise, you have free time for shopping and sightseeing in Mahon. There are lots of things to see and do – good shops and museums, the local market and the Santa Maria Church, where between June to October you can hear an organ recital every morning. After leisure time in Mahon, you will be taken to a nearby beach resort with plenty of restaurants overlooking the sea where you can have lunch (payable direct).
The tour continues to Binibeca, a pretty resort built to represent a traditional Menorcan fishing village. You will have time to explore Binibeca at leisure.
The day ends with a visit to the Caves of Xoroi – a natural cave system set high above the sea in a limestone cliff-face. The magnificent caverns now house a bar and nightclub – one of the very few cave bars in Europe.
According to local legend, the caves were once home to a local vagrant called Xoroi and his family. Xoroi used to steal livestock and local farmers followed him to his cave by tracking his footprints in the snow. To escape the angry locals, Xoroi threw himself into the sea while his wife and young child disappeared into the dark warren of tunnels and were never seen again.
When the trip is over you will be dropped back at your hotel.
