You will be picked up from your hotel and taken in a luxury air-conditioned vehicle to the De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre and the Elephant Sanctuary. A professional English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.
De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre: Enjoy a guided tour of this unique centre, which is a captive breeding facility for cheetahs and other endangered animals. You can see most of these animals up close and learn interesting facts about their nature, habitat and way of life when taking a tour in an open vehicle, conducted by a knowledgeable guide.
You can also get a wonderful opportunity to observe, and where possible, assist with the immobilisation of cheetah/wild dog, or other species at the centre that require immobilisation for management reasons or disease control/treatment.
Should you prefer, you are welcome to just watch and get those close-up photos of a lifetime!
In the unlikely event that there are no procedures that need doing, you can spend some time with staff in observing and, where practical, assisting with daily management tasks at the centre.
Elephant Sanctuary:. Continue your tour to the Elephant Sanctuary, approximately 20 minutes by road.
On arrival, you will receive a welcome briefing by the Sanctuary staff. Participate in a tour of the facility and meet the individual elephants in a hands-on experience. A knowledgeable guide conducts this “hands-on tour” on foot, and you are sure to leave the sanctuary feeling enlightened. You will be introduced to the elephants in the mountain area, uphill walk approx 200m, and here you will be able to touch, feed, walk trunk-in-hand and even ride these magnificent African elephants.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
