Spice up your Cambodia tour with a trip to an ancient Hindu temple situated on the border between Thailand and Cambodia: Preah Vihear! This temple was built during the rule of several different Khmer kings between the 10th and 12th centuries. And, as a result, it was seen as a symbol representing the Empire’s spiritual life. Today, Preah Vihear Temple is honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and represents a must-see attraction during any Cambodia trip. Located on top of a 1,722-foot cliff in the Dângrêk Mountain Range, the temple provides beautiful and expansive views of Cambodia and the plains of Thailand, too! Enjoy the amazing vistas with your friends and family as part of a private group!
We’ll start this Cambodia day trip early in the morning and make our way to Preah Vihear via Anlong Veng. In 1998, Anlong Veng was one of the last Khmer Rouge strongholds to come under government control. Here, you will also visit the house of former Khmer Rouge commander Ta Mok, nicknamed “The Butcher”. You will then proceed to Preah Vihear Temple. Wonder at the amazing architecture and the spectacular vantage points as your dedicated, private tour guide explains the importance of the temple. Finally, if time permits, you can also visit Banteay Srei and some other temples as we make our way back to Siem Reap.
