You will be collected from your Brasov accommodation in an air-conditioned European car/ minibus/ coach (depending on the number of travelers) by your English-speaking driver/ guide to kick off this Brasov and Poiana Brasov excursion. German, Italian, Spanish, and French guides are also available on request. You can also opt to be picked up from an alternate location of your choosing in Brasov.
Immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere of Brasov, which is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe, and was among the most influential Saxon cities of its time.
German colonists, who came to be known as the Transylvanian Saxons, were invited to settle in Brasov in the 12th century by the King of Hungary. The cultural and commercial prowess of the resulting settlement helped shape the course of Romanian history.
Visit the most famous landmark of Brasov, The Black Church, which is the largest gothic edifice between Vienna and Istanbul. Founded as the St. Virgin Mary Church in the 14th century, the church was renamed in 1689 after a great fire blackened its walls.
The church contains the largest bell in Romania and an extensive collection of Oriental carpets dating from the 15th to the 18th centuries. In the church courtyard you’ll find the statue of Johannes Honterus, a reformer and humanist that brought the Lutheran faith to Brasov in 1542.
Take a cable car ride to Belvedere Point at the top of Tampa Hill, which rises 900 meters above sea level and offers magnificent views over Brasov.
For a breath of fresh air, transfer to Poiana Brasov, a fairy tale location surrounded by pinewoods and glorious mountain scenery. Situated at the foot of the Postavaru Mountains, and renowned as one of the best ski resorts in Central Europe, it is among the most beautifully removed places in all of Romania. Take a leisurely nature walk here to close your tour.
Your tour concludes with a transfer back to Brasov and a drop-off at your accommodation or another location of your choosing.
