  • Overview & Itinerary

    Overview

The Aurora Borealis is a brilliant feature of the Artic skies at night. Although seeing it involves journeying away from the bright lights of civilization, on this family-friendly Jeep tour you’ll have the best seating to one of nature’s most captivating shows not far from Reykjavik.

The custom-built 4x4 vehicle allows you to avoid the busy spots large enough for tour busses and get away from the crowds for pristine views of the Northern Lights. As you pass through Iceland’s stunning landmarks and pause to take pictures, your expert guide will teach you about the lights and the stories surrounding them. You’ll be sure to return the city at the end of the evening with irreplaceable memories of Iceland lit up by swirling colours and hundreds of stars.

    Itinerary

Your tour begins when your expert tour guide arrives in a custom 4x4 Jeep to pick you up from your hotel in Reykjavik. You will head out of the bright city lights in Reykjavik and into the surrounding landscape to start your hunt for the elusive Northern Lights.

Their spectacular winter show is one of Iceland’s top attractions, and their memorable dancing rays are worth the trip! As your guide takes you through some of the many stunning sites in the region, you’ll hear about the legends and science behind the lights themselves. In the Jeep you’ll have the unique flexibility to avoid the crowded spots that the massive tour buses go to, and instead get a better viewing of the sky with front row seats off the beaten path.

The Northern Lights Explorer Tour is heavily dependent on weather conditions. Our local partner reserves the right to cancel departures up until 6.15pm on the day of the tour. If the tour goes ahead and no Northern Lights are seen, guests are offered the chance to join another evening's departure free of charge.

At the end of the evening you’ll be dropped off back at your hotel in Reykjavik.

    • Clemmi is very proud

We were picked up on time in Clemmi's monster truck. I must confess I was expecting a more traditional 4x4 with fewer people on board and wasn't expecting 11 fellow passengers....

    • Northern Lights Jeep Tour

By far the best way to see the Northern Lights is to go "off piste" in a jeep and away from the city lights. Without Alli Moller we would not have seen the lights. He was all you...
