  • Overview & Itinerary

The Black & Blue is an amazing trip, perfect for those who love adventure!

Start by exploring a cave and discovering the wonders that volcanic activity have created. The Gjábakkahellir cave is an Icelandic lava tube and is situated in one of the most active volcano areas in the world.

Located in Þingvellir National Park, the Silfra fissure is one of Iceland’s best-kept secrets, an otherworldly scene that is famous for its incredible shades of blue. The crystal clear water in the deep fissure gives you a feeling of being weightless as you float down with the lazy current. The snorkeling is a relaxing but exotic trip in an environment that is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The tour begins with a complimentary hotel pick-up, where a coach will take you to the Þingvellir National Park to explore the caves.

You will start with the “black” as the tour explores the hidden world of the lava field under the Þingvellir National Park. You will explore these caves in the pitch dark, walking to the end and back, guided by your flashlights.

After exploring the cave, you will dine on a packed lunch before moving on into the “blue”…

Snorkeling in Silfra is the second adventure. The Silfra fissure is a crack between the North American and Eurasian continents, meaning that you dive or snorkel right where the continental plates meet and drift apart about 2cm per year. The fissure offers up to 100 meters of underwater visibility, and you will have the chance to explore these waters and all that is in them.

After the tour is over, you will be driven back and dropped off at your hotel in Reykjavik.

You will be picked up at your hotel 45 minutes prior to tour departure.

The itineraries in special circumstances may be altered. A suitable alternative will be provided.

Although you don´t need to "swim" while snorkelling, we recommend that you can. The reason for that is that people who can´t swim tend to panic when they are in the water. You have to be comfortable with floating in water.

Please call the activity operator at least 24 hours prior to the start of the tour to reconfirm the departure details.
