Address: Old Harbour, Ægisgarður 5, 101 Reykjavík
Same as the starting point
Embark on a whale-watching expedition in the company of specially trained naturalists on a 3-hour cruise.
Observe the minke whales, dolphins, porpoises and humpback whales in Faxaflói bay. Soak in the gorgeous views and admire your surroundings bathed in the winter glow. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the fascinating birdlife and marine life.
Occasionally you will see killer whales, fin whales, sei whales and long-finned pilot whales, however, they are not as common. The whales are most abundant in summer, providing the perfect opportunity to see these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Observe fascinating birdlife and marine life in the region. Observe puffins, gannets, guillemots and more, breathe in the fresh Icelandic air, and take in the spectacular scenic beauty of your surroundings.
Meet the tour at the ticket office by the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavík, where you will exchange your pre-paid voucher for boarding tickets. A few steps down the pier you will find our Visitor Centre facilitated on board a converted fishing vessel permanently placed by the pier. This is where you will meet the crew. Head downstairs to the boat's hull and spend some time at the unique floating wildlife exhibition.
Hop aboard the boat through the Visitor Centre with several outdoor viewing platforms, a heated indoor saloon with large viewing windows, a cafeteria where you can buy light refreshments, toilet facilities and a cloakroom where you can borrow our blankets and overalls for the duration of the tour.
Feel free to remain outdoors or settle inside the heated lounge and observe from within. Enjoy live commentary by expert naturalists throughout the tour.
Voucher information: You can show your voucher on your smartphone (But if you’d rather print a copy – that’s fine too!)
Please arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
Icelandic winters can be very cold, we recommend dressing in warm layers, a waterproof jacket, and sturdy shoes. We recommend bringing a winter hat, scarf, gloves, and wearing warm socks for colder days.
Please note that this tour is weather dependent. In case of unfavourable conditions in the bay, the itinerary may be altered or the tour could get cancelled altogether. You will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.
Since this is a wildlife tour we can never predict or guarantee sightings of any kind. In the event that we don't encounter any whales or dolphins, we do not offer refunds, but instead give our passengers a complimentary ticket to use another day.
