This tour starts from Rådhusbrygge 3 (pier 3) waterfront of the Oslo City Hall. Board a boat and sail past a maze of green islands, dotted with picturesque summer houses. The Norway coastline offers a dramatic mix of mountains, fjords, quaint villages and graceful castles. The boat sails past the picturesque islands in the inner part of Oslo Fjord dotted with walled medieval towns, imposing fortresses and Viking and Bronze Age relics. One of the inlet islands Hovedøya has monastery ruins dating from 1100.
The tour by coach takes you to the center of Oslo where you can see:
• Kon-Tiki Museum: The museum houses a wide range of boats and artifacts which relate to scientist Thor-Heyerdahl’s 1947 expedition across the Pacific Ocean.
• Norwegian Folkmuseum: At Norsk Folkemuseum, learn about traditional Norwegian culture and history. The Open-Air Museum features 155 authentic buildings from different national regions such as the Gol Stave Church.
• Vikingships: Visit one of the few remaining preserved Viking Ships.
• Holmenkollen Ski Jump: Admire the panoramic views from the top of the ski jump and visit the world’s oldest ski museum.
• Vigeland Sculpture Park: It was created by sculptor Gustav Vigeland. One of the main attractions of the park is The Monolith, a column over 14 metres high into which entwined human bodies are sculpted.
