Make your own way either by car directly to Ljørdalen or by coach transfer (to be booked separately) from Oslo City Bus Terminal or Airport Oslo-Gardermoen to Trysil and further to Ljørdalen. Lying right at the Swedish border and in the heart of a spectacular mountain area, the tiny village of Ljørdalen is situated 37 kilometres from Norway’s most famous and biggest skiing area, Trysil.
In Ljørdalen you will be warmly welcomed at the Villmark Lodge. Villmark Lodge is a cosy resort accommodation built in perfect harmony with its natural surroundings and out of the local building materials, timber and glass. The Lodge consists of 10 free-standing cottages (double houses) with 2 private apartments each and a central building with reception, a cosy restaurant with fireplace, bar, billiard table. Furthermore, the resort features a centrally located complimentary sauna. The spacious apartments are suitable for up to 4 guests. They are furnished in typical Norwegian style and offer a private entrance, 2 bedrooms (1 double / 1 bunk bed), a separate bathroom, a cosy living area, TV, and an open gallery. Bed linen, towels and cleaning fee are included. Pets are welcome.
Your package includes daily breakfast, lunch package and dinner, throughout your stay.
After breakfast you will be taken to the Villmark Husky Farm situated just a few kilometres outside the village of Ljørdalen in the hills. Your dog sledging tours start from the Villmark Husky Farm, it will take you about 10-15 minutes to reach here. An experienced multilingual guide speaking English, Norwegian and German, will give you a comprehensive introduction into dog sledding. After which, you will be able to familiarise yourself with the dogs, learn their names, harnessing and handling of the dogs and the sled. Soon you will be able to harness the dogs by yourself and drive your own dog sled on a short tour.
The guide will give you a great insight into the world of dog sledding. Slowly you will become a team with your assigned dogs and realise that it is the special relationship with the dogs you develop over the days that becomes the greatest of your experiences. Step by step, the length and level of the tours will be increased. Accompanied by your guide, you will drive your own sled with 4-6 huskies on prepared trails through the Norwegian winter wonderland.
Today is a free day for you and the huskies. If you don't want to simply relax there are plenty of optional activities to choose from such as cross country skiing, a snowmobile safari, a guided tour with snow-shoes, a moose safari on cross country skies or tobogganing on Norway's longest toboggan-run, alpine skiing (all payable direct).
You will explore the wilderness with your dog sled. While enjoying the spectacular landscape and breathtaking views on the tour, you will also further improve your handling of the sled and will almost become an inseparable team with your assigned dogs. On Friday, you will receive your ‘musher certificate’ and you are sure to have a great last night together with your co-travellers and new friends before you leave next morning with unforgettable memories.
