Embark on an adventurous safari into the heart of New Zealand high country, the 'Middle-Earth' of JRR Tolkien's imagination. The 'Safari of the Scenes' tour offers a spectacular look at the diversity of the scenery in the area. Visit the various locations used in the filming of the epic "Lord of The Rings" trilogy and see specific filming sites. These are real locations - there are no film sets left - they are areas of outstanding natural beauty that need no enhancement.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken in a 4WD for a scenic tour of Lord of the Rings locations around Queenstown and the Southern Lakes Region (Wakatipu and Glenorchy).

Travel along the shores of Lake Wakatipu, and follow the road to Glenorchy. Admire the striking lake and mountain views along the way.

From Glenorchy, head into the mystical beech forests of Paradise on the edge of Mt. Aspiring National Park. Stop for a tea break and soak in the tranquillity of this remote area.

Proceed to see some of the sites from the Lord of the Rings films. This tour will visit the sights of Isengard, Lothlorien and the Ithilien Camp. This will be a scenic adventure exploring the film's locations. Although there are no sets left, you can admire the gorgeous scenery featured in the films.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
