Ruapehu (2,797 m) in Tongariro National Park. Ruapehu is known for its great skiing slope. So strap on your skis and zoom down. Take a moonwalk in volcanic central North Island. It’ll leave you breathless. The earth is hissing and steaming, it smells of rotten eggs, you are surrounded by craters and at last you reach the summit and get a view of the brilliant emerald lakes. You watch the sun set and like Neil Armstrong take one giant leap down to Taupo, the largest lake in all of New Zealand. Swim free of charge in a sublimely beautiful spot in the river, complete with hot cascading waterfalls and a natural, bubbling spa.
