Travel to Zaanse Schans. A charming old hamlet on the banks of the river Zaan with characteristic green wooden houses, hump-backed bridges and windmills.

This tour also takes you to the fishing villages of Marken and Volendam, to a chesse farm and includes a 20 minute river cruise.

Itinerary

The tour starts from Damrak 26 in Amsterdam. You will travel by coach.

Travel through the Dutch countryside en-route to Zaanse Schans, a village famous for its windmills, wooden houses and old fashioned shops. You will visit a shoe maker who makes wooden shoes.

You will then proceed to the fishing village of Volendam on the coast of the former Zuiderzee (now called IJselmeer). On the way, you will stop at a cheese farm to see how cheese is traditionally made.

Then board a boat (March - October) for the 20 minute crossing to the island of Marken (which is actually now connected to the mainland by a causeway). Marken is known for its characteristic wooden houses.

After your visit to Marken, you will return to Amsterdam. The tour ends at Damrak 26.

Please note

Guests must reach Damrak 26 at least 20 minutes prior to the time of departure.
Throughout the winter (07 Nov - 21 Mar) the tour will not visit Marken but will be visited the picturesque medieval town of Edam.
No boat trip from Volendam to Marken in Winter season. This is only in the Summer season (March - October).

26 Damrak will be closed for remodeling from 01st January until 30th June. Passengers can check in at Damrak no. 34 (which is less than 40 meters).

Please check in early on Easter,Flower Parade, Ascension weekend, Whitsunday.

The tour departs from 26 Damrak, Amsterdam. 26 Damrak is a 5 minute walk from the Central Station. As you come out of Central Station it is the street straight in front of you which leads to the Dam Square.
26 Damrak will be closed for remodeling from 01st January until 30th June. Passengers can check in at Damrak no. 34 (which is less than 40 meters).
Please report at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start time. This is mandatory to allow time for pre-departure briefing.
