Escape to the Atlas foothills for a 4WD safari through a rugged landscape of arid mountains and ochre-red rocks softened by lush palm and banana groves.

This trip is packed with exciting experiences. Enjoy photo-stops at verdant oases and at the delightful Paradise Valley. Go off-road for around 23 km (13.8 miles), then be treated to a traditional breakfast at a Berber house.

Visit the celebrated waterfalls at the beautiful village of Immouzzer before trying out the most common form of local transport – a donkey!

Tuck into a delicious Moroccan lunch and swim at the hotel pool before heading back to Agadir in the afternoon.

Itinerary

For your Immouzzer 4WD Adventure from Agadir you will be picked up at 0700h (07:00am) from your hotel.

You will set out for Immouzzer in an air conditioned 4WD with your guide. The excursion takes around 10 ½ hours and you will cover a distance of approximately 160 km (96 miles).

You will follow the coastal road out of Agadir, through the village of Aourir. At around 0800h (08:00am) you stop for around 20 minutes at the oasis of Tamzargout, where you can take photos and enjoy a short walk.

Boarding your vehicle, you will go on a little further and stop for a panoramic view of the Paradise Valley with its waterfalls and banana plantations. The valley was given this name by legendary guitarist Jimmy Hendrix in the 1960s, when the area was part of the hippy trail!

After Paradise Valley, your vehicle goes off-road for the 23 km (13.8 miles) stretch of country between Timkati and Tiskijji.

Around 0920h (09:20am) you arrive at the lush oasis of Targa, where you will enjoy a photo-stop. Shortly after, you stop again at the oasis of Tiskijji, where you visit a Berber house and traditional oil press and enjoy a Berber breakfast.

You are now very close to the beautiful village of Immouzzer. Located at a height of 1350 meters (4500 feet), Imouzzer is framed by palm trees, limestone gorges, bubbling fresh-water ravines and verdant tree-clad hills. You will also see the rich groves of olive and banana trees on which the community depends for its living.

With your guide, you will take a walk to Immouzer's famous waterfalls (cascades) and the rock pools below them. See if you can spot the 'Peace/ Love' sign said to have been carved in the rock by Hendrix himself.

After your visit to the waterfalls you will have the chance to explore a bit more of the area on a 30-minute donkey ride. It may be useful to know that 'Irra' means 'Go' and 'Goshh' means 'Stop' to a Berber donkey!

Around midday you will stop for lunch at Hotel Cascades. The menu will include:

Moroccan salad
Mimosa eggs
Chicken with honey and almonds
Mixed vegetables
House pastry and oranges with cinnamon

Drinks are payable direct.

After lunch, you will have a chance to swim in the hotel pool.

Around 1500h (3:00pm) you will set off back towards Agadir, with another short photo stop on the way.

You arrive in Agadir at around 1730h (5:30pm) and will be dropped off back at your hotel.
