Lovers of Renaissance art and architecture will love focusing on the city of Vicenza.

Vicenza is home to civic buildings, basilica and aristocratic residences designed by renowned architect Andrea Palladio. Visit his first Villa, the Villa Godi, which is richly decorated with 16th Century frescoes. It is set amongst the rolling hills and enchanting villages of the Breganze wine region.

Villa Rotonda, Palladio's most celebrated work, has a temple-like faÃ§ade and its symmetry along with its setting gives it an air of splendid perfection, echoing the principals of Palladian architecture.

Itinerary

This private tour departs from either Piazzale Cassa di Risparmo or Tronchetto at 0900h (09:00am). You will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle accompanied by a guide.

Leave Venice for your private tour of Vicenza and to learn more about the architecture of Palladio. The day begins with a fascinating walking tour of the city of Vicenza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city that Palladio transformed with his imposing civic buildings, basilica and aristocratic residences has remained largely unchanged since the 16th century.

Leaving Vicenza you will drive around the region to see many Palladio Villas. The highlight of the day is a visit to the Villa Rotonda. Palladio's most celebrated work. Its temple like facades, its symmetry along with its natural setting, give the villa an air of splendid perfection and seem to echo the principals of Palladian architecture.

You will also visit Villa Godi and en-route back to Venice will drive along the Villa Brenta where you will see the Villa Malcontenta.

At the end of the tour you will return to Venice. The tour ends at the original point of departure at around 1800h (6:00pm).
