The tour starts from Milan, Foro Bonaparte 76 (MM1 Cairoli) at 0730h (07:30am). Accompanied by an English speaking guide, you will be taken on a coach tour to Verona. Verona is the provincial capital of Veneto in Northern Italy and is one of the country’s loveliest towns. It is rich in archaeological sites and has a beautiful medieval centre. Here you will get free time for lunch.
You will visit the following sites during your tour:
The Roman Arena in Piazza Bra: Built in 1st century AD, the arena is still used for theatrical performances. Its opera stage is the largest in the world. The amphitheatre had the capacity to accommodate 20,000 spectators.
Juliet’s Balcony in Via Cappello: House No.23 on Via Cappello street is believed to be the house where Juliet lived. See the famous Juliet’s Balcony and a statue of Juliet on the courtyard. However, the question whether the lovers, Romeo and Juliet really existed is still debated. You can wait for your turn to stand next to the Juliet statue for a photo opportunity.
You can spend some time exploring the narrow streets lined with ‘palazzi’ that make up the historical centre of Verona. Or take a mini-train tour, if you are feeling lazy.
In the afternoon, proceed to Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. Located in Northern Italy, the lake is about half way between Venice and Milan. The beautiful lake side towns around Garda have charmed foreign visitors for centuries. Spend some time exploring the scenic beauty of Lake Garda surrounded by mountains in its narrower northern part.
Visit the ancient town of Sirmione, on the southern shores of Lake Garda. The town is home to Virgilio & Catullo Spa complexes, numerous restaurants, bars, hotels and fashion stores. Sites to be seen in Sirmione include: The 13th century Scaliger Castle, Roman Villa (Grotto of Catullus) – summer residence of Roman poet Catullus and the sulphur springs on the tip of the peninsula, believed to have an amazing healing power.
After the excursion, you will be transferred back to the starting point of the tour.
