Overview

Discover the best kept of Florence on this memorable tour.

The Ponte Vecchio, the landmark of Florence, houses a private passageway, dating back to the 1564, when the Grand Duke of Florence ordered his favourite architect, Giorgio Vasari, to built a path that would allow him and the Royal family to move freely from their residence to the government palace.

Hidden between city houses and even passing through a church, the Vasari Corridor has evolved as one of the most astounding architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance. The corridor is rarely open to the public, so take advantage of this unique opportunity to view Florence and its artistic pleasures on this exclusive walking tour.

Enjoy a guided tour of the world-famous Uffizi gallery, skipping the usual long lines. Admire superb paintings by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Giotto, Cimabue and Masaccio.

Itinerary

Make your way to the local activity operator’s office on Via de’ Lamberti, 1 (corner with via Calzaiuoli) First Floor 50123 Firenze. An English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.

Your first stop for the day is the world-famous Uffizi Gallery, which houses masterpieces of renowned artists such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Giotto, Cimabue and Masaccio. You will spend about 1.5 hours here.

Next, proceed towards the Vasari Corridor for an exclusive and private tour of this acclaimed secret passageway. Doors from within the Uffizi Gallery lead to this private passage. Built above the Ponte Vecchio, the passageway dates back to 1564 and stretches almost a mile between Palazzo Pitti, over the Arno to Palazzo della Signoria. It was architect Giorgio Vasari who was commissioned by Cosimo I to build such a path for the royal family.

The tour ends at Palazzo Pitti.
