You will be picked up from your hotel in Jaipur and travel in an air-conditioned vehicle to Amber, a small township 11 kilometres away.
At Amber, you will mount an elephant to go up to the hill-top Fort. You will be accompanied by an English-speaking local guide.
Wind your way up the ramparts and appreciate the beauty of the rugged hills in the background and the lake below. Listen to your guide regale you with stories of the history of the fort and the valour of the Rajputs. Every turn of the rampart will give you a different – and breathtaking - view of the fort and the hills. Marvel at how comfortable the elephant is walking up the ramp, often jostling for space with pedestrians who continue to walk along with the elephant unmindful of its lumbering presence.
Once you reach the top, you will enter the Fort through the grand Singh Pol (Lion Gate) gateway and continue to Jaleb Chowk, the courtyard where you will disembark from the pachyderm.
Within the Fort complex, see Ganesh Pol, an imposing gateway painted with images of the elephant-headed Hindu God, Ganesh. Marvel at the architecture of the Diwan-e-Aam or the ‘Hall of Public Audience’, the Diwan-e-Khas or the ‘Hall of Private Audience’ and the Sukh Niwas where a cool breeze blows across channels of water cooling the place. Don’t miss the Sheesh Mahal, the hall of mirrors and the Charbagh, gardens in a geometric design.
After the tour of Amber Fort, you will travel back to Jaipur in an air-conditioned vehicle and be dropped at your hotel where the tour concludes.
