You will be picked up from your hotel in an air conditioned private vehicle for a sightseeing tour in Old Delhi. A local English speaking guide will accompany you on this excursion. Visit the following famous landmarks of the city:
• Raj Ghat- Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest freedom fighters of India was cremated here after his assassination in 1948.
• Jama Masjid - The largest mosque in India, it was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in the 17th century. Constructed with red sandstone and marble, it stands testimony to the architectural skills of the Mughals.
• Red Fort- A massive fort with walls running for 2 kilometres, it was built to serve as the second capital for Shah Jehan and has a number of important buildings like the Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience) and Rang Mahal (Palace of Colours). The famous Peacock Throne was carried off from the Diwan-i-Khas by Nadir Shah. The Red Fort is now where the Prime Minister of India gives the Independence Day speech.
• Chandni Chowk- Once an imperial avenue of Mughal royalty, Chandni Chowk is one of the busiest commercial areas of the city, where rickshaws jostle for space with cars, buses and people. Walk through the market for a flavour of an Indian bazaar (market).
