You will be picked up from your hotel in Agra and accompanied by an English-speaking guide will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle to Fatehpur Sikri. As your guide tells you more about the fascinating history of this city which was abandoned primarily due to scarcity of water, see the:
Jama Masjid: The mosque built by Akbar. Appreciate the row of chattris (small, domed pavillions). Don't miss the Bulund Darwaza, a 40-metre high, domed archway that Akbar built to commemorate his victory in the state of Gujarat. Built of red sandstone with inscriptions from the Koran on it, it is an iconic symbol of Fatehpur Sikri.
•The tomb of Salim Chisti: Built of white marble within the courtyard of the Jama Masjid, the tomb attracts people of all faiths.
• Panch Mahal Palace: A five-storeyed palace with intricately carved pillars.
• Jodha Bai’s Palace: This is the biggest palace there. The interior of the palace has carvings depicting parrots, elephants and lotus flowers among others. There is a temple within this palace.
Later you will be dropped back to your hotel in Agra where the tour concludes.
