  • Visit Germany′s largest museum of cultural history
  • Appreciate the works of Albrecht Dürer

Nuremberg, a mighty center of medieval European trade and commerce, was the birthplace of Albrecht Dürer. During the days of the Third Reich it became inextricably linked with the Nazi Party and its atrocities. Visiting today you will find a charming and lively city with lots to offer.

You can visit the Germanic Museum, the historic castle, enjoy the town center, with its cafés, bars, restaurants and shops.

After that you travel along the Romantic Road to the lovely old town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Explote the city with a sightseeing walk through the picturesque old lanes: See St. Jacobs Church with the glorious wood carved altar by Tilman Riemenschneider, half-timbered houses, city gates, the mighty Renaissance town hall, the fascinating medieval crime museum and much more – you will be put into an atmosphere that reminds you of past times.

Your evocative Nuremburg & Rothenburg Tour begins when you meet your guide at Wiesenhüttenstr. 39, (close to Central Station and opposite to Hotel Savoy).

You will travel by coach 119 miles (191 km) from Frankfurt to Nuremburg, capital of Franconia, birth place of one of Germany's greatest artists "Albrecht Dürer" and it also hosts the famous Christkindl's Market in winter.

You can visit the Germanic Museum. Founded in 1852, it houses a large collection relating to German culture and art from prehistoric times to the present day. With current holdings of about 1.2 million objects, this is Germany's largest museum of cultural history. Highlights include the Cloth of St Gereon, a fragment of the oldest European tapestry still existing, and two works attributed to Albrecht Dürer.

You will also have the chance to visit the historic Castle, perched on sandstone rock in the north of Nuremberg. Take in the historic town center, which stretches from the impressive train station across the central square and past half-timber buildings along Pegnitz River up the hill to the Imperial Castle.

While your tour includes a lunch box, do not forget to taste the famous Nuremberg fried sausages (payable direct).

After that, you will travel to the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber on the Romantic Road. The Romantic Road was a trade route during the Middle Ages and retains much of its medieval character.

You will go for a sightseeing walk through the picturesque old lanes. See St. Jacobs Church with the glorious wood carved altar by Tilman Riemenschneider, half-timbered houses, city gates, the mighty Renaissance town hall, the fascinating medieval crime museum (Kriminalmuseum), the most important museum of legal history in Germany and much more – you will be put into an atmosphere that reminds you of past times.

You should also take advantage of the many lovely restaurants in the town where you enjoy a traditional German meal. You should also try a “Schneeball” (snowball) a local fried dough ball with many different toppings.

Your tour ends back at the starting point at Wiesenhüttenstr. 39. Hotel drop-off can be arranged for an extra charge (approx €5 per person).
