To start your Premium Louvre Night Tour and Wine Tasting, meet your guide at the Arc du Carrousel, a monumental arch with a horse-drawn chariot on top, situated across the road from the courtyard of the Louvre. Standing with your back to the entrance of the Louvre Museum and Pyramid, you will see it across the road, past the roundabout, before the entrance to the Tuileries Garden (Jardin du Tuileries).
The Premium Louvre Night Tour and Wine Tasting gives you a unique opportunity to visit the Louvre at night when it is open to those few travelers who are in the know and looking for a unique and less-crowded way to experience its wonder.
The Louvre is the most visited art museum in the world and houses some 35, 000 artworks. Covering an area of over 60,000 sq. metre, the modern Louvre was rebuilt in French renaissance style in 1541 under Francois I. Since then, the structure underwent several renovations without altering its basic style, resulting in a stunning architectural masterpiece.
The museum is home to some of the best artworks in the history of art, including the most recognizable painting in the world, the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci. The other great works on display are the Venus of Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace, Code of Hammurabi and works by Raphael, Botticelli and Titian amongst others. The main entrance of the museum consists of a glass pyramid known as Grande Pyramid. Napoleon’s pink marble Arc du Carrousel stands at the western end of the main courtyard of the museum.
The English speaking guide will lead the way for the small group from one masterpiece to another. He/ she will share anecdotes and notes on the way to enrich you about the history of the museum and its many highlights.
With so much beauty and art to take in, a visit to the Louvre can be quite overwhelming. Hence, all you would need to end this beautiful evening is a visit to a classic Parisian wine bar. A short walk from the Louvre, your guide will take you to one of the city’s best wine bar rated by Bonjour Paris. Enjoy a flight of wine (a set of three glasses of wine specially selected for you), accompanied by some charcuterie (ham) and cheese platters. Spend some quality time with your group and guide, discussing anything and everything. You can even opt to stay on for more wine or seasonal dinner.
