Set out from departure point in an air conditioned coach at 0845h (8:45am) and travel to the Palace of Versailles which was built by Louis the XIV in the mid 17th century. It is the most famous palace in France and served as the political capital of the kingdom.
Explore the Royal Apartments and the Queen’s Suite and see lavishly decorated rooms with frescoes, marble, gilt, woodwork and symbols from Roman and Greek mythology. The palace was designed by some of the most talented architects like Le Vau, Mansart and Charles Le Brun. The 75 metre long Hall of Mirrors is particularly impressive with 17 huge mirrors and stucco work showing the monarch in various guises.
You can also take a stroll in the formal gardens which were designed by Andre le Notre. Almost as impressive as the palace itself are its ponds, tree lined avenues, marble and bronze statues and fountains. Watch the special fountain show held in the gardens of the palace. The display is accompanied by the music of one of the composers from the court of Louis XIV.
Enjoy a three course lunch in a restaurant situated in the centre of Paris.
In the afternoon, take a city tour of the main Parisian attractions and listen to an audio commentary about these famous landmarks. Follow it up with a one hour Seine River cruise and admire the famous bridges of Paris. An informative commentary will tell you more about the history of the city. The tour ends with an elevator ride up to the 2nd level of the Eiffel Tower, which offers a panoramic view of the beautiful city of Paris.
The tour comes to an end at the Eiffel Tower. The tour ends at around 1800h (6:00pm).
