Bordeaux is synonymous with wine and an extraordinary heritage and boasts of no less than 5000 chateaus. Set out on a day-long sightseeing excursion of the city and the vineyards, including the historic wine merchant's district, ‘Les Chartrons’.
Wine merchants had their imposing buildings here, from where they ran their wine business. Little remains now except for a couple of structures.
Depending on the day of the week, you will visit either the prestigious Saint-Emilion area or the Médoc area, both world-famous for their wines.
Arrive at the Tourist Information Centre, 12 cours du XXX Juillet 33080 Bordeaux Cedex. Your bilingual guide (English and French) will meet you here. Board an air-conditioned coach and set out for a wine tour in Chartrons, located in the neighborhood of Bordeaux, and learn the secret of great wines.
Here is a time-wise break-up of your itinerary:
09:30am: Enjoy a guided tour of the Les Chartrons district and tasting at a wine merchant's cellar.
12:15pm: Lunch and tasting in the restaurant.
1:30pm: Depart from Bordeaux and proceed for a tour of two wine châteaux with tasting in Médoc (Saturdays) or visit of a wine château and tour of the medieval village Saint-Emilion (Wednesdays), a region known for its exceptional wines.
6:30pm: Return to Bordeaux.
