For those who always dreamed of seeing from the inside what is usually seen by wine professionals only, this is a great behind-the-scenes tour.

Travel from Bordeaux to the Harvest Workshops of the Medocaines and enjoy a guided tour dedicated to harvest in two different estates along with the Médocaines, four women winemakers who open their chateaus to the public during harvest time.

During the course of the day you will visit two chateaus, taste the wine at each different stage of their production, and actually create your own blend using different sample of single varietals of Cabernet and Merlot.

This workshop will allow you to acquire or round out your wine knowledge and to develop your taste in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Itinerary

There is no hotel pick-up. Arrive at the Tourist Information Centre, 12 cours du XXX Juillet 33080, Bordeaux Cedex. Your multilingual guide will meet you here. Board an air-conditioned coach and set out for a harvest workshop with the Medocaines.

Among the Medocaines that you will visit will be Marie-Laure Lurton (Château La Tour de Bessan), Armelle Falcy Cruse (Château Le Taillan), Martine Cazeneuve (Château Paloumey), and Florence Lafragette (Château Loudenne).

Here is a time-wise break-up of your itinerary:

0915h (09:15am): Departure from Bordeaux Tourist Office city-center.

In the morning visit one of the estates. Get an introduction to grape tasting in the vineyard, taking part in harvest work, and enjoy wine tasting.

1230h (12:30pm): Wine tasting and winegrower’s lunch.

In the afternoon visit the second estate where you will discover the cellars, see the sorting out of the harvest and methods of wine-making. Taste the wine out of the vats well as bottled wine.

1800h (6:00pm): Return to Bordeaux.

The tour ends at the starting point.
