The exciting Northern Lights Night Safari begins at Koskikatu 1, 96200 Rovaniemi. You will be picked up from here and transported in a coach/ minivan/ car (depending on the size of the group) to the start of the walk.
You will proceed through the frozen forest with your bilingual guide (English and Finnish speaking). If you are fortunate, you may see the spectacular phenomenon of the Northern Lights (also called the Aurora Borealis) illuminating the sky.
The Aurora is caused by collision of charged particles from the sun with the gases in Earth's upper atmosphere. Typically, it appears as a diffuse glow, or as "curtains" of green, red, blue or violet light. Sometimes the light effects move; sometimes they are still. In Lapland, there are about 200 Aurora displays a year.
When you stop for a rest, you will be offered a delicious cup of hot berry juice or coffee. Cup your hands around its comforting warmth, and hear an explanation of the Northern Lights and the natural life of the Arctic snowlands.
Your tour ends at the starting point.
