Overview

The Papallacta Thermal Springs Resort (Termas de Papallacta) is nestled high in the Andean Cordillera amid a breathtaking setting, and on the route to the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle. The resort itself is located on the famous "Cinnamon Trail", the same route that the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana followed in 1542, leading to his discovery of the Amazon River. The Termas de Papallacta Spa and Resort serves as the gateway to the Ecuadorian Amazon region.

For decades, the soothing healing thermal waters and pure nature surrounding Termas de Papallacta made it a "must do" Ecuador in tourism attraction. The thermal baths are located on the banks of the Papallacta river in a unique natural environment. The hydrothermal value of Termas de Papallacta's hot springs is due to Papallacta's location between two volcanoes, Cayambe and Antisana. The baths' curative properties have also proven to be anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic and anti-rheumatic.

Close to the resort is the protected Canyon Ranch, located at the entrance of the Cayambe-Coca Ecological Reserve. Fishing is a popular activity in this area.

Itinerary

Day 1: Quito – Papallacta Thermal Springs Resort

You will be picked up from either your hotel or the Quito airport and taken in a private air-conditioned vehicle to the Pallacta Thermal Springs Resort, about 55kms from Quito. The drive takes about two hours. An English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.

The ride to the Pallacta Thermal Springs Resort (Las Termas de Papallacta Thermal Resort and Spa), traverses the breathtakingly beautiful “Cinnamon Trail”. As your vehicle winds its way higher and higher towards the resort perched high in the Andes, gaze down at the rivers and valleys that lie below.

As soon as you enter Papallacta, the difference in the atmosphere is noticeable.

Arrive at the Resort and check into your room.

You have the entire day to enjoy the facilities of the Resort and Spa.

Lunch at the Termas de Papallacta.

Enjoy the Thermal baths and the Thermal Spa at the resort (payable direct). The Spa offers two ranges of services. The Spa’s Thermodulic area (hydrotherapy area) consists of five hot thermal pools and one cold pool. The Thermoludic area is the ideal place to experience a variety of different hydromassages using either water jets or air bubbles.

The Spa’s Thermal Club offers a private and exclusive environment, where you can enjoy a range of different treatments related to health and beauty such as individual hydro massage baths, body treatments with medicinal Andean mud, baths in the Thermal Cave, Finnish saunas, pressure massages, aromatherapy or therapeutic massages, face and body treatments and more.

Do try an after-dinner soak under the starry equatorial skies. Relax in the thermal pools or spoil yourself with a massage or a treatment at the health Spa – all in the middle of an exuberant Nature.

Overnight at the Termas de Papallacta resort.
