  • Overview & Itinerary

An excursion into Hungary's history along the Blue Danube with three important places of interest. The tour combines scenic beauty with history and culture taking you to the towns of archbishops, kings and artists.

You will reach Visegrad in Van, a former royal town, and learn all about its centuries old unique architectural style buildings. You will then be escorted to Esztergom, known as the northern gate of Budapest. The Basilica at Esztergom is considered one of the finest works of art to have survived in Hungary from the Renaissance. Szentendre, known as the artists’ village where you may visit the world-famous Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum or the Confectionery Museum

On this sightseeing tour, you will enjoy some of the most beautiful views of the Danube valley and its natural surroundings.

You will be picked up from your hotel, taking you a little away from Budapest. An expert guide will accompany you and will entertain you with interesting tales about the following historic sites that you will visit during the course of the tour:

Esztergom: A former royal town, it was the first capital of the country and has been the seat of kings and archbishops for centuries. Visit the largest cathedral of Hungary and drive across the river to Slovakia to marvel at the stunning panorama atop the Basilica.

Visegrad : At one time the border of the Roman Empire, you can still see the ruins of Roman watchtowers along the Danube. The view from here is superb, encompassing the incomparable Danube Bend.

Szentendre : It is a small baroque city, popularly known as the Painters’ town, located at the gate of the Danube Bend. This town has a distinct Mediterranean feel to it. The town is home to several galleries, workshops, exhibition centres and museums. Here you may also visit Caprice, the Hungarian jewellery museum, Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum or the Confectionery Museum.

During summer (May-September) we return to Budapest by boat. The tour ends in the city centre (pier).
