Activity Overview

Set out on a full day exploration of Western Australia, taking you from its only Benedictine Abbey to the limestone pillars of Pinnacles Desert. You will see the historical suburb of Guildford, the picturesque Swan Valley and the orange growing district of Bindoon.

New Norcia is famous as it is home to Australia’s only Benedictine Abbey. You can also pick up Benedictine community goods like olive oil and delicious fruit wine or visit the local museum and art gallery.

The Western Wildflower Farm is breathtakingly beautiful. The Nambung National Park and the Pinnacles Desert are major tourist attractions here. Thousands of surreal limestone pillars rising out of the stark yellow desert sands will hold you riveted. If you’re lucky to be at Pinnacles Desert in the early morning or evening light, you will be captivated by the sight of the pillars standing against the purple and orange hues of the sky. A photographic wonder, you will savour the haunting beauty of the Pinnacles Desert.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel and travel in a coach, accompanied by a guide, through historical Guildford and Swan Valley, past Perth’s Pearce Air Force Base through the orange growing district of Bindoon to reach fascinating New Norcia.

First settled in 1846 as a mission to the regions Aborigine, New Norcia is home to Australia’s only Benedictine Abbey. Drive through the town and learn of the intriguing history and culture of the community before stopping for morning tea. Afterwards, visit a local produce shop for the chance to purchase Benedictine Community goods including olive oil, fruit wine, delicious New Norcia nut cake and fresh breads.

From here the tour heads north past Moora to the Western Wildflower Farm for a brief guided tour of how wildflowers are preserved for export.

There will be a break for lunch and if you have selected the option, you will enjoy a lobster at lunch.

Continuing on, arrive at the Rock Lobster fishing town of Cervantes. Their highly prized Rock Lobster are caught by local fishermen. Afterwards head into Nambung National Park, home of the mystical Pinnacles Desert. Here your driver guide takes you for an easy paced walk through parts of this fascinating landscape covering some 404 hectares.
