Itinerary

Your delightful Kings Canyon Climb begins early in the morning. Thirty minutes prior to sunrise, you will be picked up from your accommodation in a comfortable coach and taken to the start of your walk.

Kings Canyon is the biggest attraction inside Watarrka National Park. It consists of a massive gorge with red sandstone walls that rise over 100 metres to a plateau of rocky domes and other sandstone formations.

The rocky path to the Canyon rim begins with a challenging 500-step climb. On reaching the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramas. At the top end of the Canyon you find yourself between the weathered sandstone domes known as “The Lost City”. The way down also takes you past “The Garden of Eden,” where the rugged desert is softened by patches of lush greenery.

The 6-7 km Kings Canyon Climb may take up to 3 hours and is for people who have an above average level of fitness.

After the walk, you will be driven back to your accommodation in Kings Canyon.
