Your Versailles at Leisure tour starts from Pyramides agency, 2 rue des Pyramides, Paris. You will travel in an air conditioned coach to the Palace of Versailles. En route you will be given a headset and can listen to an audio-introduction to the Palace of Versailles.
On arrival at the Palace of Versailles you will be given an audio guide and can explore at your leisure.
Some areas of Versailles not to miss include the King’s Suite with its lavishly decorated rooms of frescoes, marble, gilt, woodwork symbols from Roman and Greek mythology. A highlight of the Palace of Versailles is the 75 metre long Hall of Mirrors, with 17 huge mirrors and stucco work showing the monarch in various guises (Louis the XIV was also called the Sun King).
You can also stroll in the formal gardens (entrance fee not included) which were designed by Andre le Notre. Almost as impressive as the palace itself are its ponds, tree lined avenues, marble and bronze statues and fountains.
